I am also surprised at the comments and don't quite understand the comments made. For what you pay for. Harvester does great food! As mentioned the restaurant is always busy, so why would you have a celebration/important occasion. The harvester is a family meal place to eat, but not a Banqueting venue, If you want a 5* service pay the 5* price and book a function room at the Marks Tey Hotel.

when going to the harvester to celebrate my daughters birthday we had to wait over 2 hrs for the table and the food was not even that great in fact we ordered a milkshake for my daughter and the milk was off i wouldn't recommend it

i cant believe what im reading i regulary use this restaurant with family and friends and are suprised these comments have been put forward. Ive never had a bad experience there and have always found it a warm and friendly atmosphere with good quality food good value for money!

Went to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary (they wanted to try it as always seemed busy) back in November 2007 - food stodgy (vege option) and obviously mass produced. Mum had a big fly in her dessert that the server argued 'must have flown onto it at the table' despite being crispy & cooked - extra protein for free!!! Would not recommnend unless you like TV dinners - although the portions are bigger the food is not quality. Yes, anyone can visit the salad bar - including those who take their dirty plate to refill, or use their fingers to pick up items. Hygiene nightmare!!

We had the most appalling time at the Harvester. Cold food, slow service, staff rowing, we had it all. Then we paid 30 quid for the privelege. That was after the starters bill had been taken off.
Shoddy and poor - look elsewhere.
