Colchester Zoo

One of England's finest zoos, Colchester Zoo has nearly 200 species from White Tiger, African Elephants and Rhino to Chimps, Mandrills, Red Panda, Marmosets and Tamarins. Giraffes will return to the Zoo in mid 2001. The Zoo has become one of the best collections of rare or endangered animals all living in naturalistic & landscaped enclosures. Whatever the weather you can visit us as there is much undercover. There are fifteen daily displays. Feed Elephants, touch Snakes, fly Birds of Prey, meet Keepers (summer). See the: Seal Feed; Chimp Feed; Macaw Display; Penguin Parade; Small Mammal Feed; Elephant Bath Time (summer only); Bear Feed; Otter Feed; Sea-Lion Feed; Big Cat Feed. Other facilities include: Tanganyika Road Train; Kalahari Capers, Undercover Soft Play Complex and Jungle King Roundabout; Familiar Friends Touch Corner (for domestic animals); 4 Outdoor Playgrounds, Safari Train too. In mid 2001 'Spirit of Africa' will be completed for Giraffe, Rhino and Zebra as well as the existing million pound African Elephant Kingdom.
